Net Starting Field Position (NFP) is the difference between offensive starting field position (OFP) and opponent offensive starting field position (DFP) on non-garbage, regulation drives in FBS vs. FBS games. Starting field position is measured in terms of yards to the end zone. The percentage of drives started more than 80 yards from the end zone (OLF, DLF) and the percentage of drives started less than 60 yards from the end zone (OSF, DSF) are also provided. Net possession starting value (NPS) is the difference between the average expected scoring value of the team's own non-garbage possessions (PS+) and that of its opponents (PS-), including the value of offensive drives, non-offensive possessions, and overtime possessions.
